Print Club London host a themed print showcase every couple of years that exhibit 40 hand picked print designs. This year was a music theme and the only choice for me was the incomparable Freddie Mercury! I wanted to express his more flamboyant and creative side in this design, whilst capturing his masculinity without exploiting the more common image of white vest and microphone, for example. The scene is taken from Queen’s decadent music video for ‘It’s A Hard Life’ where Mercury is sporting this feathered, eyeballing, unitard.
This is an eight layered screen print featuring two special metallic layers that transform the blue and the red into shimmering, pearlescent versions that subtly catch the light.
